3rd Annual Horn Ensemble Workshop at Daytona Beach

Date:
Jul 26 2009 - Aug 1 2009

The American Horn Quartet Summer Horn Workshop has undergone a transformation! For one week each summer hornists of all ages can now meet at the beach for the 3rd Annual Horn Ensemble Summer Workshop at Daytona Beach. Come to sunny Florida for lessons, master classes, ensembles and performances focusing on ensemble playing, while not neglecting the need for
individual attention.
As in the past several members of the American Horn Quartet will be on hand, but now joining them will be other outstanding artists. Between July 26 and August 1 join David Johnson, founding member of the American Horn Quartet, Charles Putnam celebrated fourth horn of the American Horn Quartet, composer-professor Kazimierz Machala of the University of Illinois and Paul Basler, composer and professor from the University of Florida, for an intensive week of horn playing and fun on the beach! As the principal goal for the week is to become a better ensemble player, three concerts are planned - one at host Daytona State College and two others in different parts of the lovely seaside town.
The workshop is open to all hornists; no audition is required. Come with your own ensemble or join one in Daytona. Ensembles will be formed based on participant experience and ability to insure each participant as much individual attention as possible. Concerts will feature horn ensembles from duets to a massed choir. The all-inclusive price (housing, meals and instruction) is $825; prices are available for instruction only.
